The Quote Builder

Your day rate is right. Your quotes are where the money leaks.

Turn the rate you calculated into a complete project quote: prep, travel, post, kit, expenses, revisions and payment terms. Then make the contract from it in one click. Your client gets a clean estimate and an agreement to sign. Built for freelance film and video crew.

Where the money goes

You quote the shoot. You work the whole project.

  • Prep, travel and wrap go unbilled

The quote says two shoot days. The job takes a scout, a travel day and an evening of media offload.

  • “Unlimited revisions” on a flat fee

With no number on it, round five is free and your effective rate keeps falling.

  • Gear folded into your rate

When kit and labor are one number, a discount cuts both, and the client never sees what your camera package earns.

  • Dropping your rate to win the job

Next time, that lower number is your rate. A discount line keeps your standard rate on the page.

  • No deposit, no cancellation terms

A cancelled shoot day costs you the day and the work you turned down for it.

How it comes together

One rate. One quote. One contract made from it.

What your client receives

A real estimate from the builder

This is the builder's output for a two-day shoot quoted at a $1,250 day rate. Every phase, the camera package, and a returning-client discount shown as a discount, not a lower rate.

The full estimate comes with the Quote Kit

Built from your own rate, terms and client, ready to send.

And the contract to go with it

Made from the estimate, clause by clause

The same job as a services agreement. The client, day rate, deposit and deliverables came over from the estimate. You make the real choices (who owns the footage, when you get paid, how disputes get settled), fill in the rest, and see the contract change as you go. The notes that explain each choice stay on your screen; the client only sees the contract.

The full agreement comes with the Quote Kit

Built from your own rate, terms and client, ready to send.

What your client sees
Your business name on the estimate — The Rate Guide isn't on it (a logo upload is planned, not live yet). Contracts carry one line noting they're a template, not legal advice.
Delivery
A license key by email from Gumroad, then one account-confirmation email — a couple of minutes, not instant.
Refunds
No. All sales are final, because the Contract Pack is an instant download. The samples on this page are real builder output (the top of each page; the rest is blurred), so you can judge it before you buy. If your key doesn't work, email hello@therateguide.com and we'll fix it.
Questions
Is this a download?

The Quote Builder and the Contract Builder run on this site. You buy on Gumroad, get a license key by email, and link it to your Rate Guide account once. The Contract Pack is a download, delivered by Gumroad with your receipt.

Do I need an account?

Yes, a free Rate Guide account. Your purchase, your quotes and your contracts are saved to it, so they're still there after you clear your browser or switch devices. Export a backup file of your quotes any time to keep your own copy.

Can I use it on more than one device?

Yes. Sign in on your laptop, phone or any other computer and your quotes are there. There are no activations to count.

Does it work for my role?

If you bill by the day, half day, hour or flat fee, yes: DPs, camera operators, ACs, editors, colorists, sound mixers, gaffers, producers, motion designers.

What does my client see?

A clean estimate with your name on it: line items at your standard rates, kit, expenses, any discount as its own line, the total, the deposit, and your terms. Never your private notes or your calculator numbers.

Can I change the contract's wording?

Yes. Make the choices where a clause offers them, turn clauses on or off, rewrite any clause in your own words, or add your own. Save it as your standard contract and every new one starts from your choices.

Is this legal or tax advice?

No. The contract is a starting point written for freelance film and video work, not advice about your situation. Have an attorney in your state review your standard contract before you first use it. The quote's terms are starting points you edit.

Can I get a refund?

No. All sales are final, because the Contract Pack is an instant download. The samples on this page are real builder output (the top of each page; the rest is blurred), so you can judge it before you buy. If your key doesn't work, email hello@therateguide.com and we'll fix it.
